2026 Soybean Production Workshop
Westfield Grain and Schwartz Farms recently hosted a Soybean Production Workshop for local farmers, bringing together growers and industry professionals to discuss key aspects of successful soybean production.
The workshop featured several knowledgeable speakers who shared their expertise on a variety of important topics. Alyssa Essman, Weed Science Extension Specialist with Ohio State University, spoke about effective weed control strategies for soybean fields. Eric Richer, Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Educator with Ohio State University, discussed the economics of soybean production and ways farmers can manage costs while maximizing profitability. Horacio Lopez-Nicora, an Ohio State plant pathologist, provided insight into plant health and disease management.
Additional presentations and discussion were provided by Jacob Munson, Nichole Funigiello, Kevin Fall, Mark Worner, and Lee Beers, who each contributed valuable information and perspectives for our growers.
Syngenta and FMC generously sponsored the evening meal from Barry Dyngles, which everyone enjoyed. One of our foodgrade growers, Evan Schaefer, also brought flavored popcorn grown and produced on his farm for attendees to sample.
Workshops like this give our growers the opportunity to learn from industry experts, share ideas with one another, and stay informed on the latest practices in soybean production. We appreciate everyone who attended and helped make the event a success.
