Seeds

In the mid-1990s, Tom and Dan began looking into ways to increase the farm’s net worth without necessarily having to expand its farm land.  One avenue was to add value per acre by specializing in producing seeds.  In 1998, Schwartz Farms launched its seed business.

As seed specialists, our focus at Schwartz Farms is to offer the best varieties in order to service our customers and help them get as much out of their seeds as they possibly can.  Therefore, we work on behalf of a number of companies, including Pioneer, AgriMaxx, Ohio Certified Seed, AGI and Quality Seeds to offer soybean, corn, wheat, oats, rye, alfalfa and grass seeds.  More specifically, Schwartz Farms grows our own high quality soybeans, wheat, oats and rye for seed, which are processed at our seed plant facility.  This allows us to prioritize our customers’ various needs and preferences of seeds.

Cleaning & Packaging

After production, Schwartz Farms’ specialty seeds are conditioned, cleaned and packaged at our seed plant prior to shipment.  In short, this process entails 1) sorting by seed size, 2) spiral, 3) gravity table, 4) magnet & destoner, and 5) packaging either in the form of bags, bulk bags, proboxes or bulk.
